Polperro is a picturesque village and working fishing port situated on the south coast of Cornwall about 4 miles west of Looe. The harbour at Polperro is surrounded by the tightly packed former fishermen's cottages that make up the village and has remained unspoilt despite the main industry now being tourism rather than fishing. Polperro was a major Pilchard fishing and processing port and although this is no longer the case, is still used as a fishing port and is home to a dozen or so commercial fishing boats which set out on a daily basis looking to land various types of fish such as flat fish, crabs, pollock, sea bass, monkfish and the alike. Locals offer tourists the opportunity of boat trips around the coast to get a different view of this beautiful part of Cornwall.
